Local Boy Shoots Lights Out
Matthew Csillag of Syosset finished tied for 5th in the recently contested US Kids Golf Regional Championship held in Jekyll Island, Georgia. Matt’s second round 71 was one of only five under-par rounds shot in his age group in the two-day competition. Matt competed in a field of 60 boys from across the United States, Mexico, and Hong Kong. To qualify for the event, a player had to finish in the top three in his State Championship in 2005. This was Matt’s best finish against a national field of competitors. Congratulations Matt!
Anglebrook Golf Club Hires Matt Sullivan as General Manager
Anglebrook Golf Club has announced the appointment of Matt Sullivan as General Manager. Sullivan, 43, joins Anglebrook fresh off stints with Bergen Hills Country Club and The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge.
A 15-year golf industry veteran, Sullivan worked at Anglebrook in a public and media relations role during 2001-2003, and has done consulting work for several other golf clubs in the Metropolitan area.
His mission is to continue to grow the nine-year-old club’s member base, and to elevate Angelbrook’s profile in what he calls “the best market for private clubs in the world.”
Sullivan calls Anglebrook “one of those rare venues where golf simply feels more like golf,” and considers the club a wonderful mix of old and new. “Anglebrook is a traditionally designed golf course, and has the clubhouse and dining to provide a world-class golf experience.”
Executive Director Kiyoshi Sugasawa says, “We will draw on Matt’s experience as a marketer and a manager to help us continue to carve out our niche in Westchester golf.”
Sullivan is a former award-winning golf writer and editor, and has written for Time, Newsday, The Bergen Record, and Travel & Leisure Golf. He lives in Maywood, New Jersey with his wife Lara and daughter Emily.
